The World Wood Day 2024 regional event in Qatar was organized by League of Arab States and co-organized by World Wood Day Foundation with the theme "Diversity of Wood in Culture" in Expo 2023 Doha Qatar from March 1st -17th.

The WWD 2023 Special Concert - The 13th Annual Concert for Japanese Traditional Instruments, organized by Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and supported by IWCS, was held online on March 19th.

The ninth World Wood Day was held online with the theme "Trees for Good" and the sub-themes: Challenges, Opportunities, Sustainability from March 21st - 22nd.

The 2022 World Wood Day Symposium & The Fourth Forest Products Culture Colloquium, Trees and Non-Wood Products: Challenges, Opportunities and Sustainability, was also held online from March 21st - 22nd.

2021 March
The World Wood Day 2021 Tree Planting Event in Tokyo, Japan, was held on March 19th at the University of Tokyo Tanashi Forest.

The eighth World Wood Day was held online with the theme “CO2 and Wood” from March 21st - 22nd.

The 2021 World Wood Day Symposium & The Third Forest Products Culture Colloquium, CO2 & Wood: Carbon Capture and Storage in Forests, Wood and Non-Wood Products, was also held online from March 21st - 22nd.
2020

February
The 2020 World Wood Day regional event in Mauritius was held at Ecole Sculpture de Bambous, Mauritius and coorganized by WWDF, IWCS, and local authorities of Bambous and the Ministry of Arts and Culture with the theme "Legacy” on February 22nd.

March
The 2020 World Wood Day regional event in Zimbabwe was coorganized by WWDF, IWCS and Chiredzi Government Primary School and held in Chiredzi Government Primary School, Zimbabwe with the theme “Legacy” on March 8th.

World Wood Day 2020 in Oman was held by Prof. Khalil Salim Abdullah Alkalbani and coorganized by World Wood Day Foundation with the theme “Legacy” in Ibri, Oman from March 8-11th.

The World Wood Day 2020 “Legacy” in Tokyo, Japan from March 17-22nd was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The 2020 World Wood Day regional event in Chad was organized by WWDF & IWCS and held in Baba Moustapha Cultural Village in Chad with the theme “Legacy” on March 21st.

The first World Wood Day Regional Event in India was held in Jaipur, India on March 21st, 2020.

Due to COVID-19, 2020 WWD Regional Event in China was celebrated online by posting and sharing photos, videos, and words about World Wood Day on the social media on March 21st.

World Wood Day 2020 Regional Event in Latvia was held in Vienkoči Park Woodcraft Museum and celebrated with the theme “Legacy” from March 21 - 22nd.

IWCS and Japan Wood Culture Society (JWCS) organized and announced the 1st World Wood Day Songwriting and Ex Libris Competitions.

IWCS contracted with Brill for the publication of International Journal of Wood Culture (IJWC), an online open access and printed journal.

2019

January
IWCS and WWDF participated in the annual event "Wood Collection 2019" with the Legacy of Wood Culture Promotion Council (LWCPC) as exhibitors to jointly promote wood culture and World Wood Day events at Tokyo Big Sight on January 29th-30th.

The seventh World Wood Day was held in Stübing and Graz, Austria from March 19-24th with the theme “Change.”
The 2019 World Wood Day Symposium & the 2nd Forest Products Culture Research Group Colloquium, Change- from tradition to innovation, was also held from March 21st - 23rd.

WWDF and IWCS supported the Tetouan 2nd International Symposium on Sculpture as the 2019 World Wood Day regional event in Jordan, which was organized by the Adayday Association of Cultural, Artistic and Social Development from June 16th to 22nd.

2019 Chinese Traditional Wood Working Culture and Techniques Training Program was successfully held by IWCS and Jiangsu Gongmei Hongmu Culture & Art Institute in Jurong City, Jiangsu Province from July 15th - 21st.

IWCS participated and filmed documentary at the Burning Man Festival from August 25th to September 2nd in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA.

September
IWCS and WWDF participated in the 2019 IUFRO World Congress: Forest Research and Cooperation for Sustainable Development, in Curitiba, Brazil, from September 29 to October 5, 2019. IWCS and WWDF organized two sessions titled “Wood and Forest Culture: Addressing a Sustainable Future" on October 1, delivered a presentation on "Wood Culture Programs: Paving the Way for Responsible Wood Usage and a Sustainable Future", and ran two booths to introduce and exhibit the activities of IWCS and World Wood Day events.

Organized by the Department of Culture Under Grozny City Council Chechen Republic, the event “The Forest and Wood Art of Russian Culture” was co-organized by WWDF and School AL-ULA the Jordanian in Jordan on October 30th - November 7th.

Organized by Prof. Khalil Salim Abdullah Alkalbani, the event “Wood Art of Woodcraft” was co-organized by WWDF and held in Ibri, Oman from November 3rd - 7th.

2018

January
IWCS participated in the annual national event "Wood Collection 2018" to jointly promote the responsible wood use from a cultural perspective with the Legacy of Wood Culture Promotion Council (LWCPC) and film the grand expo at Tokyo Big Sight on January 30th-31st.

February
A new IUFRO Unit as one Research Group 5.15.00 Forest Products Culture and two Working Parties, 5.15.01 Wood culture and 5.15.02 Non-wood forest products culture has been urged and established by IWCS.

March
IWCS participated in the ASEAN+3 Conference, Interpreting Natural and Cultural Heritage Towards Quality Guiding and Satisfied Tourists, which was held in Siem Reap, from March 6th-8th 2018, and delivered two presentations on "World Wood Day: A Global Promotion for the Preservation of Wood Legacy and Cultural Heritage" and "Wood Culture for a Sustainable Development of Tourism".

The sixth World Wood Day was held in Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia from March 20th-25th with the theme “Life.” The 2018 World Wood Day Symposium & The 1st Forest Products Culture Research Group Colloquium, was also held from March 21st-23rd.

The 2018 World Wood Day in Laos was held in Vientiane from March 29th to April 1st with the theme “Life.”

April
The 2018 World Wood Day in Myanmar took place in Mandalay from April 6th-8th with the theme “Life."

The 2018 World Wood Day “Belt & Road” International Wood Culture Show took place at Yiwu International Expo Center in Zhejiang Province, China from April 27th - 30th with the theme “Wood for A Beautiful Life - Heart to Heart, Roots United.

May
IWCS attended as the invited jury at the VIII International Festival of Wooden Sculpture "Lukomorye" 2018, which was held in Irkutsk, Russia, from May 10th -19th 2018.

July
IWCS participated in the 9th National Conference on Ethnobotany and the 8th Asia-Pacific Forum on Ethnobotany, which was held in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, from July 13th-15th 2018.

August
IWCS participated and filmed documentary at the Burning Man Festival from August 26th to September 3rd in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA.

October
IWCS and WWDF representatives participated in the fourth committee meeting of Legacy of Wood Culture Promotion Council as new members and the Press Conference on the joint event of 2020 World Wood Day at the House of Representatives of Japan on October 10th in Tokyo.

IWCS also conducted the WWD-IWCS joint documentary project on the Sustainability and Wood Legacy in Olympic and Paralympic Buildings in Tokyo, Gifu and Kyushu, as well as the filming project on the history and unique culture of the Gifu Precious Wood Market.

IWCS participated in and delivered a presentation on World Wood Day at the International Conference "European Forests - Our Cultural Heritage", which was held in St. Georgen am Längsee, Carinthia, Austria from December 4th-7th.

2017

March
The fifth World Wood Day was held in Long Beach, California, USA, from March 21st - 26th with the theme “Roots”. The World Wood Day Symposium, Roots: Appreciating and Valuing Diversity from Interdisciplinary Approaches, was also held from March 22nd - 24th.

April
IWCS participated in the inauguration of the Alliance of Members of House of Representatives of Japan for the Promotion of Wood Legacy on April 5th, and IWCS Director, Mr. Mike Hou, delivered a presentation "Wood Culture for a Sustainable Future" during this initial meeting at the Diet Building No. 2, under the invitation of Japan Wood Industry Appeal Organization.

June
The 2017 IUFRO Division 5 Conference: Forest Sector Innovations for a Greener Future conference was held in Vancouver, BC, Canada from June 12th - 16th. IWCS organized two technical sessions titled “Wood and Forest Culture: A Path to a Greener Future”. IWCS Vice President and WWDF Chair, Dr. Howard N. Rosen also delivered a speech including the winner video of the 2016 wood and culture online video contest “Wood, a Culture for Life” at the opening ceremony on June 12th.

July
IWCS filmed the 38th Arakawa Traditional Arts and Handicraft Fair from July 7th - 9th in Arakawa, Tokyo, and launched a documentary project on the ukiyo-e print, Japanese traditional woodblock print dated in Edo period, Japan.

August
IWCS participated and filmed documentary at the Burning Man Festival from August 27th to September 4th in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA.

November
2017 World Wood Day regional event in Jordan was organized by the College of Arts and Design at the campus of the University of Jordan on November 15th, 2017 and co-organized by World Wood Day Foundation and supported by IWCS.

The Chinese 6th National Vocational & College Student Carpentry Competition and 2018 World Wood Day International Youth Adult Furniture Making Invitational China Trial took place at Guangxi International Conference and Exhibition Centre on November 17th-20th, 2017.

The 8th China-ASEAN International Wood Culture Forum of The Aesthetics of Wood in Life Exhibition and Workshop, co-organized by International Wood Culture Society, Guangxi University, and Nanning Wood Warehouse Co., Ltd, was successfully held at Guangxi International Convention & Exhibition Center on November 17th-21st, 2017.

December
“The Belt and Road - International Root Carving Exhibition,” co-organized mainly by China Arts and Crafts Association, International Wood Culture Society, and Kaihua People’s Government was held in Kaihua, Zhejiang Province from December 2nd-7th, 2017. Prof. GuangJie Zhao, the Vice President of IWCS, delivered a speech at the Opening Ceremony.

IWCS honorably becomes an Affiliate Member of International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS).

2016

March
The fourth World Wood Day, themed “Nature and Culture”, was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from March 19th - 26th, and the World Wood Day Symposium, Nature and Culture: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Peaceful Coexistence and Sustainable Development, was held from March 21st - 23rd. Four pre-event projects were kicked off from February 27th and post-event visits to special schools and a senior care center were made on March 27th. Regional events were taken place in Latvia, Ghana, and China (Guangdong and Sichuan Provinces).

June
IWCS participated in 2016 American Association of Woodturners Symposium from June 9th - 12th, in Georgia, USA

IWCS participated in and delivered a presentation “Investing Wood Culture in a Sustainable Development – Wood is Good” at the Furniture Society 2016 Annual Conference held in Philadelphia, USA, from June 22nd - 25th.

August
IWCS participated and filmed documentary at the Burning Man Festival from August 28th to September 5th in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA.

September
The Chinese 5th National Vocational & College Student Carpentry Competition was organized by IWCS in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, China, from September 4th - 7th.

IWCS attended the 2nd International Symposium on Wood Science and Craftsmanship (WSC) from September 20th - 23rd in Kyoto, Japan, as a sponsor and continued supporter

March
The third World Wood Day, with the theme “Wood and Humanity”, was held in Odunpazarı, Eskişehir, Turkey from March 6th - 26th. The World Wood Day Symposium, Wood and Humanity: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Sustainable Development, was held from March 21st - 23rd. At the same time, regional events were taken place in Australia, Benin, Latvia, The Philippines, Switzerland, Syria and Istanbul, Turkey.

August
IWCS participated and filmed documentary at the Burning Man festival from August 30th to September 7th in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA.

September
The regional event in South Africa, “2015 World Wood Day Wood Carving Competition”, was held in Durban, South Africa, from September 4th - 6th.

IWCS participated in, filmed documentary and exhibited at the XIV World Forestry Congress, Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future, from 7 to 11 September, 2015, in Durban, South Africa.

The Sixth China - ASEAN International Wood Culture Forum was held from November 19th - 21st in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China.

The Chinese 4th National Vocational & College Student Carpentry Competition was organized by IWCS in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China, from November 19th - 22nd.

2014

March
The Chinese 3rd National Vocational & College Student Carpentry Competition was held in Xianyou, Fujian Province, China from March 20th - 22nd.

The Second World Wood Day was celebrated in Xianyou, China from March 20th - 25th. Pre- and Post-WWD Woodcarving Cultural Exchange Programs were held in Beijing, Dongxiang, Jiashan, Kunming, Lu Shan, Shanghai and Wenzhou. Regional events also took place in Italy, Japan, the Philippines and USA.

Wood Culture Tour sets foot on USA, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Oman, Iran, Turkey, Greece, India, Norway, Denmark and Iceland from June to October.

The Fifth China-ASEAN International Wood Culture Forum was held from September 25th - 28th, in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China.

IWCS participated in the 1st WoodSciCraft International Symposium from September 8th - 10th in Montpellier, France.

The first World Wood Day was celebrated in Tanzania on March 19th - 21st in a joint effort with international organizations and Tanzania Governmental bodies.
